What would you for a Klondike bar?

Well we don’t know about you guys, but we would simply take a buck or two out of our pockets and pay for one to indulge. Now what would you do to go on the most memorable trip of your life?

For us… EVERYTHING! :)

Tough Life!

Boy oh boy it has been a while word press followers! So sorry, we have come across a few obstacles. What will it take for us to go study abroad? Well one thing is for sure hard work is what it will take (no doubt about it!). We’ve sent letters(and got some plenty of reject letters) , had a yard sale (about to have another one!) and still we are not close to our goal. Luckily our hope has not ran out! What else can we do to possibly raise money, this is was harder than we initially thought! No matter what we will find away to study abroad, with our high hopes and deep determination we still have belief in our trip! Typical of Brittania (never giving up!).

One Step Closer!

Last Saturday was our first yard sale, it was a pretty good turn out!! We included baked goods that were delicious and were a hit (with Tania). Though as our first fund raising event we came across a few obstacles (FYI: Tania is no longer handling baked goods!) Tania was excellent on acknowledging every customer about the cupcakes we were selling. On the downside, we were taken advantage of! :( Every time we would explain the price of each cupcake, customers would take as many as their hands can hold! (FAIL!) One man rubbed a little frosting on Tania’s nose -__- (enough said!). We had a fin experience and best of all we are doing it again in November! We are excited to see the results and one step closer to our trip!

Goals Within Goals

It may seem to you that we are stuck in a rut, but don’t you worry we have more tricks up our sleeves! (That’s right!) We have recently received our first semi-donation! (Yay!) Even though it was not what we were asking for, The Energizer Company has sent us coupons for a few of their products. We will definitely be using their donation in our trip! (Thanks a bunch!)

On Saturday we will be having our first yard sale! (There will be more.) We’ve been preparing so much for it, by making signs and collecting items to sell. We may even preview our goodies for our future bake sale! Hopefully we will have a great outcome! Our goals for Saturday will help us lead us to our main goal!

Never Ever Give Up!

As of yesterday, we have received some responses from companies! Mostly rejection letters (well actually all of the ones we’ve gotten back were rejections) but hey at least we know companies are getting our letters! Hopefully we will receive some positive feedback soon since not only has Tania dreamt of success, but so has Brittany! (It’s a BritTania thing we suppose!) So with that in mind we decided to come up with new ways to raise money! And thanks to our new friend (Sky!) that pitched some ideas to us we decided to host a bake sale at a local park! Come Sunday we are going to scope out the competition! (Concession stand’s got nothing on us!)

Hopefully Dreams Come True!

Ever since we have sent out 53 letters (Woot woot!) we have been dreaming of success…literally! The other night Tania had a sweet dream of our future success. It took place at Brittany’s house, Brittany received a phone call from Tania asking if she checked the mail. Brittany really hadn’t been home, so we decided to meet up and check it out together. (Boy were we in for a treat!) Once we arrived to the mail box it was mail-less, though there was a key present! The key was for the bigger mail box. (There was still some hope!)  When Tania opened it up, letters were flying EVERYWHERE! (Just like in Harry Potter!) Tania screamed, “BRITTANY WE HIT THE JACKPOT!” We were swimming in an ocean of letters that contained donations for our study abroad fund! (That’ll be the day!)

We wish to have a real-life experience just like Harry Potter. That was one hell of a dream! (Hopefully it comes true!) Doesn’t dreaming of success usually forecast a successful future? (Let’s hope that is the case in our situation!) To learn more, please visit the “About Us” page where we have a brief description of us and our goals for studying abroad. September’s Accomplishments

So the end of September officially marked the end of our first month of sending letters to companies asking for their sponsorship. We first decided to make our first month goal of sending out 50 letters but instead we sent a total of 53 letters all to different companies( talk about girl power whhaaa whaaaa). We decided to celebrate our accomplishment by going out to eat ice cream! BUT since we are on a budget we took a coupon (2 for 1 special)! Needless to say it was delicious!

We also recently started volunteering for this program called Americorps which is where we go tutor younger children in grades pre-k to 9. Not only are we setting great examples on giving back to the community, but it is a fun thing to do. In addition to that , we will receive an award at the end of the year, with at at least 300 hours of giving back.

We are still waiting for some reply’s…ANY REPLY’S! Hopefully we’ll have a positive outcome! People Nowadays…

Barnes and Nobles is the place where we find ourselves most productive. Somehow were just smarter there, it must be all the books around us or something. We love this bookstore to death…though the people that make up the bookstore sure are something else…not in a pleasant way (MmmmmHmmm). We suppose it’s all part of the adventure. While we work hard we always encounter some interesting people.

As you’ve all seen our working space, (please see first blog for picture references) it is not a presentable area. We’ve got papers everywhere, envelopes here and there, and a needed power outlet for our laptop. Usually we decide to come late at night to avoid the public, not because we’re famous, but we do have 19 followers…but whatever.(Please subscribe!) A worker (identity concealed for their own safety) comes up and attacks us with words. This worker demanded we clean up our “hazardous” space. This reminded us of our grandma coming after us with a sandal (Not like we would know ;)). That was a sad day. :(

On another note, one of our tasks involves phone calling, though this becomes difficult when a guy in the aisle in front is trying to flirt very loudly with a girl next to him. She was just minding her business (not into him) on a Friday night (yes we even sacrifice our lively Fridays) but he eventually got her attention and they began to talk very loudly. Just by inactively listening we’ve learned a lot from them, one was a school teacher and the other was in school for psychology. Turns out he convinced her on a date…good job buddy! It was almost like this…

Another obstacle we’ve over came, are our peer customer game players, which we involuntarily signed up for some game here. Its like one giant game of peek-a-boo at the bookstore! Apparently people are trying to get in on our brilliant ideas. People peek through the bookshelf and see what we’re up to. Which we don’t understand because they just stare at us, not like were celebrities we do have blog…but whatever. In return, Tania gets up and peeks around the bookshelf and yells “peek-a-boo we see you,” this definitely makes them feel awkward (don’t hate the player, hate the game).

Lastly, the store’s soundtrack. Need we say boring! We’re not trying to fall as sleep, but just in case we are next to the story time area which will help us take a nap if needed(which we are seriously considering).

A Late Night…

Many of you know that we have already made a list of ways that we could possibly  raise money. Well the plasma situation is not exactly figured out, but we won’t give up! We stayed up all night creating a letter to send to companies asking for their sponsorship, boy it was a looonnng night! We put together 50 letters to different companies and will mail them out ASAP! Our goal is to send out at least 50 letters each month. Hopefully we will get some feedback!  Wish us luck!

Look at us working hard! The only thing that was bothering us was Freddy the fly, we told him not to bother us but he didn’t listen. Sorry Freddy!

Official Fail #1

Friday we went to go “attempt” to sell our plasma, it turns out that was a total FAIL!! First off we got lost, could not find the exact place, and we were extremely nervous. though we knew it would be rewarding.

We tried another place and actually found it though we had some problems walking in the problem was there was sooooo many people! Who would have thought so many people sell their plasma on a Friday morning. Well it looks like we are going to have to turn to other ways of making money. Official fail #1! Plasma center we will be back…..with appointments!

Please excuse our delays in blogging, keep in mind we are full time students with jobs and have commitment to volunteering. We will try our best to blog about our adventures more often. We are so close to getting sponsorships for our trip! More about that tomorrow! Please subscribe to our blog, also feel free to contribute to our expensive trip!
